Arabic and English reminders for multi-location clinics: current support
Mawidi currently sends one standard reminder for appointments on the next calendar day in Doha time. It uses Arabic or English from the customer's saved conversation language and does not resend after the booking is marked reminded. Custom timing and per-branch reminder rules are not currently configurable.
A reminder is only useful if the patient can act on it
The current reminder includes the service, date, time, and location when an address is available. It is sent from the clinic's configured WhatsApp number and lands in the customer's existing conversation.
Patients can reply in the same WhatsApp thread to request a reschedule or cancellation. Clinics that require several reminder intervals, timing by appointment type, or different schedules by branch need a separate implementation; those controls are not part of the current reminder runtime.
What the WhatsApp reminder workflow includes
Next-day Doha window
A daily run selects bookings that fall anywhere on the next calendar day in Doha time.
One send per booking
Once a reminder is marked as sent, later cron retries skip that booking instead of sending a duplicate.
Bilingual reminder copy
The message uses Arabic or English based on the customer's last saved conversation language, with English as the fallback.
Appointment details
The standard template includes the service, appointment date and time, plus the clinic location and map link when an address is available.
Reply to change the booking
The reminder asks the customer to reply if they need to reschedule or cancel, using the existing inbound WhatsApp workflow.
Current configuration limit
Custom intervals, multiple reminders, and schedules that vary by branch or appointment type are not currently configurable.
Where WhatsApp reminders protect the schedule
General clinics
patient confirmations, appointment reminders
Send the standard next-day reminder and keep reschedule or cancellation replies in the clinic's WhatsApp conversation.
Dental clinics
dental reminders, procedure preparation
Remind dental patients of the service, date, time, and available location details in Arabic or English.
Labs and diagnostics
preparation notes, timed visits
Use the standard appointment details and location link; treatment-specific preparation content requires separate implementation.
How to compare WhatsApp reminder tools for Qatar clinics
The useful distinction is not whether a vendor can send a reminder. It is whether the reminder creates a confirmed, rescheduled, prepared, or escalated patient outcome before the slot is wasted.
Two-way patient actions
Prioritize confirmation, reschedule, question, and staff-handoff paths over one-way SMS or broadcast reminders.
Rules by appointment risk
If you need timing, copy, deposits, or follow-up rules to vary by risk, verify those controls in a live demo. Mawidi's current standard reminder does not provide that rule set.
Operational reporting
Look for visibility into confirmations, risky slots, reschedule requests, deposit completion, no-shows, and receptionist follow-up workload.
How the current reminder flow works
Record the appointment
Keep the booking date, time, service, customer phone, and location details in the Mawidi appointment record.
Use the saved language
The reminder selects Arabic or English from the customer's latest saved conversation language and falls back to English.
Send for the next Doha day
The daily job finds eligible appointments on the next calendar day in Doha time and sends one reminder per booking.
Handle customer replies
A reschedule or cancellation reply returns through the existing WhatsApp conversation for the configured booking workflow to handle.

Frequently asked questions
- Why use WhatsApp for medical appointment reminders?
- WhatsApp is where many Qatar patients already talk to clinics. Mawidi's current reminder keeps reschedule or cancellation replies in that existing conversation.
- Can reminders be different by appointment type?
- Not in the current standard runtime. It sends one reminder for appointments on the next Doha calendar day. Custom timing, multiple sends, and rules by doctor, service, branch, or patient history require separate implementation.
- Can patients reschedule from the reminder?
- Yes. Mawidi can collect a reschedule request and route it into the booking workflow instead of leaving reception to interpret missed calls or late replies.
- Does it support Arabic reminder copy?
- Yes. The standard reminder uses Arabic or English based on the customer's saved conversation language, with English as the fallback.
- Can reminders reduce no-shows without deposits?
- A timely reminder may help, but Mawidi does not guarantee a no-show reduction. The current message lets patients reply to reschedule or cancel; deposit prompts and confirmation tracking are separate capabilities to verify for your workflow.
